why are they called pink slips?

Good Question Melisa Oldham

The History of of Pink Slips…because in the old days when they didn’t have computers to trade every day on and 99% trading was on the Floor at Wall Street and at the docks where the boats were unloading the products ( dirt floor too ) they would hold out pieces of paper with a bid on it to the a guy standing on a Milk crate selling the stock (the ask) and the bidders waved their bids at him..any ways, A big buyer like a Rockefeller type didn’t have any paper, so he asked a lady on the curb out side if she has a Slip ( goes under a dress) on and she said yes.he asked if he could buy it for a lot of money too by the way..well of course she said yes..so he tore it up in pieces to use to write on and buy ( bid ) his buys on..well his unusual piece of paper as it were kept catching the eye of the asked (seller) and he made a killing that day on all the stocks he bought cheap.. now why is this unusual you ask… because the slip was PINK !! and then hence became known as Pink Slips…and that’s my story and i’m sticking to it…jp
